GIG-Harbour (Canadian Spelling) SCAMP
I purchased my Gig Harbor SCAMP in 2018 from a chap in Sequim, Washington and drove it back to Thunder Bay, Ontario to sail on Lake Superior! Yes, five long days on the Trans-Canada highway. The reason to join today was sponsored by a question: While I have a Honda 2.3 four-stroke, I'm looking to sell it and just row (I quite enjoy rowing when needed). OR, move to e-motors. I am wondering about the e-Propulsion eLite (500W) unit. Runs about 1500$ (CAD). Any wisdom out there on using this to push the SCAMP when the wind dies and my arms are tired? I have the Spirit 1.0 and it serves me well. I use it in the fixed position with the remote throttle which works well due to the high transom. So far I have only sailed large rivers but it more than keeps up with the moving currents. I plan to do some bay sailing this year and I am confident this setup will do well. I highly recommend this setup.
